delete history from search engine

how do i stop the history coming up in search engines such as google,

1) From Internet Explorer Tools Menu select Internet Options...
2) On the Content tab click the AutoComplete... button
3) Click the Clear Forms button to remove all previous search items from any
Internet search progam/online store pages etc...

To remove just one item from the auto-complete drop-down list, click in the
search feild, wait a second, then click again. The entire history of that
search box will display. Point (but do not click) to the item you want to
remove, then press the Delete key on your keyboard.
