Help with minor issue

Can someone tell me how to delete or stop my previous searches from showing
up whenever I type something in the "search" box in each search engine? I
clear the history, but that only clears the addresses from my Internet
Explorer box.

The only method I have found is crude, but effective. I have never have
found a setting that would take care of this specific setting.
To clear out all the entries for a given search window:
Type each letter of the alphabet.
When, for example, "a" brings up a list, hit the down arrow to highlight the
first entry, then the delete key. Hit "a" again for the next entry beginning
with "a", and repeat. It is a very fast process.
Proceed through all the letters of the alphabet.
Would be nice if this "helpful" function could be turned off some other way.

Got to TOOLS/OPTIONS/CONTENT/AUTOCOMPLETE and you can clear passwords
and forms. That's it!

Enjoy!

Hi Mano,

A small utility I created that clears certain History Lists

Clear Recent File Lists - Includes Search and Run Menu (Line 41)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

This process works and clears them from run also:

Clear IE History, AutoComplete, Clear the TIF, Clear the RunMRU, Typed URL's
and Clear List (depending on which Start Menu you are using): Right click
the Start button/Properties/Customize/Advanced/Recent Documents/Clear List.

Added info, some in more detail:

Temp Files: IE/Tools/Internet Options/Delete Temporary Internet Files
Temp Files: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp & TIF
Cookies: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Cookies
History: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\History

Internet Explorer address bar:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs

Run dialog box:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RunMRU

Documents menu:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RecentDocs

Common dialog boxes:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ComDlg32\LastVisitedMRU

Search Assistant:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Search Assistant\ACMru

AutoComplete:
IE/Tools/Internet Options/Content/AutoComplete/Clear AutoComplete history

Wanna quicker method?

Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Search Assistant\ACMru

To prevent keeping a history altogether, right click ACMru/Permissions/Deny
all users and groups listed.

Will this change then apply to all forms, including online forms?
I am a lazy typist.
