Delete Blocking

I have a situation in Word XP where you can type in some
text, then highlight that text, press delete and a
question appears at the bottom of the window "Delete
Block? No (Yes)"

Has anyone seen this? How do you turn it on and off?

Thank you for your help.
 
Uncheck the two Word Perfect entries at Tools > options > general
