Deleating Read Only Property

Why is it that while in My Pictures, I click on a folder that has picture
files in it and perhaps subfolders in it; then I clink on Properties and
de-select Read Only and apply it to the file and all subfiles; yet when I
return to the primary/main folder file and check its' Properties it continues
to indicate the Read Only Box is marked. Yet, I go into the file or subfiles
(via Properties), each picture shows Read Only is not selected.

Folders always say Read Only...that's just the way
it is...but if you notice...it's just a square dot...not a
checkmark.

FWIW...this does not affect the files within the folders.

For more info...have a look at the following article:

(326549) You cannot view or change the
Read-only or the System attributes of folders
in Windows Server 2003, in Windows XP, in
Windows Vista or in Windows 7
