Hi,

I have just reinstalled Windows XP Home and all my other s/w. Now in a
"Windows Explorer" window, there is a long delay expanding the View >
Explorer Bar menu item.

Please can anyone offer some advise to fixing the problem.

Cheers!

Simo,

Is this delay occurring only during the first time when Internet Explorer is
opened, or in all instances? Is there a third-party Explorer bar listed
there?

Hi Ramesh,

It appears to be happening the first time only. There's a Yahoo! Messenger
menu item in the Explorer Bar sub menu. During the re-install, i did install
the latest versions of s/w including YH mgr. My previous, older version may
not have had this Explorer Bar feature.

If this is the cause, I'd be happy to have it disabled if that's possible -
though not YH Messenger itself - I use that.

Cheers,
Simo

Hi Simo,

Yes. See if disabling the Yahoo! Messenger's explorer bar helps. I don't
think the Manage Add-ons (XP SP2) dialog lists the Explorer bars. If that's
the case, try ToolbarCop:

http://windowsxp.mvps.org/toolbarcop.htm

In ToolbarCop, click 'Scan for search bars' in the Tools menu. Now, locate
and diable the Yahoo! component. Restart Windows (as IE / Explorer caches
the Explorer bar listings, and does not read it dynamically).
