Using XP Home-SP2 and defragging once a month, I lately noticed that the
Defrag program gives the signal Completed, but adds that some files could not
be defragged and refers to the list of, which is empty!
Chckdisk, scandisk do not report any diskerror. Defrag program has no
problems with the H-disk, which is the second partition of the HD (6 months
old).
Anybody has suggestions where to look? Thanks in advance

Run the analysis again and you will see which files are fragmented. Just
defrag again and it will be taken care of.

Alias

Did it, but makes no difference. Defrag completed, some files could not be
defragged, list empty!

Not a problem. Some files are NOT meant to be defragged. It's a feature
of XP/Windows, as it's always been. No new news here.

Try a third party defragmenter. For one its faster than the XP one and will also defragment the Master File Table and PAging file.

I now use defrag for more than 10 years, but never noticed this. So for me
it's new.
