Defender integration with Anti-Viruses

Does the Windows Defender can be extended by Anti-Virus manufactures in a way
that ‎single scan (i.e. Local hard drive) can check both for spyware and
viruses?‎
‎(Avoid the system load require the run both scans one after another)‎

i.e. Integration of OneCare and Defender ?
