just installed it today, ran a full scan took almost an hour, then it stopped
with a dialog box poping up saying defender has in countered a problem, then
the scan said your computer in working normally. anybody know why?
#2 is there anyway to update defender without turning on auto updates, i've
gotten one or two bad undates so i look at each one before i install it, so
auto update is turned off.

I've seen your stop issue--it happened to me today--I was doing a OneCare
Live scan and some Windows Updates at the time, and I didn't worry about it.

I've seen a post indicating that WindowsUpdate brought in the definition
update, and I believe I've also seen that myself.
