Defender automatic scan disables sleep mode

I had Windows Antisypware for only a couple of weeks, and now have installed
Defender on my XP machine. With both versions, when running an automatic
scan at, say 4am, the scan takes the PC out of sleep mode, which is fine. The
problem is, it doesn't seem to go back into that mode (at least not the
monitor).

All I have to do is take some action, like clicking on the mouse, and then,
after the usual delay, sleep mode is restored.

Is there a setting I need to apply to return to sleep mode after a scan?

That's good feedback--thanks for posting it. I don't have a suggestion
about what to do to work around the current behavior. I would think that
the display should not even wake during a scheduled scan--haven't had an
opportunity to test yet.
