Defaulting File View to Details (instead of icons)

This is really frustrating. I want to be able to view
all my files as details, not icons as the default.
Please help. Thanks.
 
The Default for Windows XP is to remember the view settings for the 400 most
recently used folders.

Line #2 - Increase Folder View Size Limit to 8000

Change a Folder to details view, then Go to tools, folder options, select apply
to all folders.
 
Open Windows Explorer, set any folder to the view you want. Then, go to
Tools, select Folder Options, go to the View tab and click "Apply to all
folders."
