Default view preference settings change

I work on an XP machine that is connected to a network (I think that the
network is based on a Windows 2000 Server).
I set my view preferences in Windows Explorer so that full details of files
are displayed. I do this at root level and apply it to all subfolders
(Tools/Folder Options/View/Apply to All Folders).

This seems to work OK for a while, but every so often I find that when I
access a folder (unpredictable) the file view goes back to large icons with
details suppressed.

Any explanation for this and method of preventing it?

Thanks

You probably should ask this on the windowsxp.network_web newsgroup but my
guess would be that it may have something to do with policies set by the
network administrator.
