Windows Explorer-Prob's w/setting file 'details'... :(

I must be missing something, but it's time to ask for help!!! (XP Hm/Xp
Prof/Vista?)
Problem: When viewing files in Windows Explorer with the 'view' set to
"Details", by right clicking in the header line you can select which
particular details (configuration) you want to display, ok. But, as best as
I can figure, you can ONLY either: 1) set ALL folders to a specified
'configuration' in folder options, or 2) set each folder's configuration
individually, which obviously is a royal pain (note: nothing to do with
'customizing' a folder's view, or how it appears/looks, just talking about
the details). So...?!???

Question: Is is possible to set the 'configuration' for more than one
folder at a time? (I.e. Set the detailed view for a folder, all subfolders,
files, etc. - or even a selected group of various files and folders). There
must be, since this basic, functional program has been part of Windows for
quite a while and utilized so frequently - I'd find it hard to swallow that
this issue hasn't been resolved - hence my opening line, "I MUST be missing
something"!!! Appreciate some help! Thanks,

There's a script available from this web site that you might find helpful.
