Preferred folder view doesn't stick

I'm a longtime Windows user, so I'm familiar with folder views. My problem is
that on my work computer, no matter how many times I set my folders to the
default "details" view, they go back to the Icon view shortly afterwards.

I haven't determined what makes them go back to the Icon view; it may be
happening when I restart the system but it seems like every day I have to
reset the default view to "details" (via Explorer > Views > Folder Options >
Views)

My system is XP Pro, Windows version 5.1 Build 2600 xpsp2.040919-1003:
Service Pack 1.

I had the same problem when I used SP1 but when I upgraded to SP2 , the
problem disappeared.

Learn how to upgrade to SP2 and what you should do before installing SP2.
It is also important to upgrade to SP2 because Microsoft is going to stop
offering security update for SP1 users on 17 September this year.

However , if you want to keep SP1 , you can also view these:

You're welcome .

If the problem is still on after SP2 installing, see the links in my
previous post.

I have SP2 installed and don't want to go back to SP1 but I'm having the
same problem. Any solution?
