I had windows XP Pro configured so that it booted directly
to my desktop. It showed the blue welcome screen for a few
seconds, but it went to my desktop without me having to
click anything. Then I just installed the latest Windows
Update and now it stops at the welcome screen requiring me
to click on the "Default User" button before taking me to
my desktop. How do I set it up so that it boots directly
to my desktop again?

Thanks if you have an answer.

Click Start, Run and type "control userpasswords2", and click Ok.
Uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer"
option, and click Ok.

See "How to Configure Windows XP to Automatically Log On a User
Account" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=282866).
