can the default text in microsoft office word 2003 be change from new times
roman to arial ? so i don't have to change it for every document i type?
 
Did these steps work for you?

Create a new document
Select Format | Font
Change your Font to Arial
Click the Default button at the bottom left
OK the "are you sure" message.
Now your default font will be Arial
