1. Open the Network Connections folder.
2. Click Advanced | Advanced Settings.
3. Click the LAN adapter in the upper window.
4. For each set of bindings in the lower window:
a. Click NetBEUI.
b. Click the up arrow until it's the first protocol listed.

Just install NetBEUI. Windows XP will attempt to talk
TCP-IP but when that doesn't work it'll fall back to
NetBEUI. It's not possible to uninstall TCP-IP in
Windows XP but you can disable NetBIOS over TCP-IP.
