I have found how to change the font from TNR to Verdana as the default font
but when i close down my computer it seems to change back to TNR as default.
Is there a way of keeping it Verdana?

I am using Microsoft Word 2003. I changed the font by going to Format, Font,
selecting Verdana, then Default. It seems to work fine until i shut my
computer down.

Does it work if you open the template as a document (via File | Open), and
then change the font? For instructions on opening normal.dot, see the "To
make other changes" section of the article at
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/CustomizeNormalTemplate.htm.

If the above works for you, then something is preventing the Normal template
from being saved. The culprit is frequently an add-in from Adobe; see
http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adobe_acrobat_toolbar.htm.

So will this work for every new word document i open? As i need to set it up
so that whenever i start a new word document from scratch it will always have
the same default font.

Changes to the Normal template affect so-called blank documents in Word.
(The document Word creates on each startup, or when you press Ctrl+N, is a
blank document.)

Note that custom templates are not affected; they must be modified
separately.
