Default Fax Viewer

When I try to VIEW a fax in the WIN-XP (home) FAX
CONSOLE, I get this error message:

" The fax document cannot be displayed because your O.S.
do not have a default viewer for fax documents (.tif
files)"

I can print it,and view it from MS Word, but I can't
find the place to set a DEFAULT VIEWER for faxes. Can
anyone lead me to it please? My choice would be the
Windows XP Pictures and Fax Viewer" just to look at
faxes.
Thanks,
RG Schultz

As it should be.
So what is the file association for TIF files on your system?

Russ -
Good question...I looked in my "folder options" where
it says files with tif extensions open with "windows fax
& picture viewer." That's nice, but I still get the
message that says "The fax document cannot be displayed
because your O.S. do not have a default viewer for fax
documents (.tif files)" whenever I try to view a fax in
the fax console.
Can you help me shake this loose? (I've recently
installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 2--can that be
involved?)
Thanks,
RG Schultz

Yes. It probably set itself to be the default viewer for TIF files.
To view faxes from the Fax Console, the Windows Imaging and Fax viewer must
be your default viewer for TIF files. You can easily restore that setting in
Windows Explorer > Folder Options. File Types. For most users the command
line should read:

"rundll32.exe <drive>:\WINDOWS\system32\shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen %1"
