'Default beep' event missing

Good morning;

We have eleven IBM NetVistas all running Win2K on a peer-
to-peer network. Last week, one of the machines was
missing the 'default beep' from the sound events. Today
two more machines are now missing the 'default sound' from
the event list. No new software or hardware has been
installed.

Can this be restored without reinstalling Win2K?

Is this cause for concern, maybe some virus or other
problem?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

I have seen that numerous times and never found out why :-(
But the default Beep can be restored. Copy paste the
following in NotePad and save as Beep.reg then double
click on the file to restore the missing/corrupt registry
entry:
(Copy what's between *, Line may wrap: HKU line should be
one line )

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\.Default\.Default

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\.Default\.Default
