Dealing with so many critcals!

Hello I would be interested to know why we are constantly
being asked to download criticals that seem to all
read/deal with the same problem.

Yesterday I downloaded two, today there are two more, one
is over 5mb's.

Does this mean yesterday's are now no good? and if they
are should we uninstall them in favour of the new ones?

If yesterdays are now no good it would help if windows
took them out when we in stalled any new ones dealing
with the same subject.
This would then put our minds at rest.

The list of updates,hot fixes keeps getting
longer....sucks..dont know what to remove,every time i
install up date my computer slows down and does'nt
respond well
