Hello all,

I am new in to WHQL stuff. We are desinging a PCI Display
adapter and would like to get the "Designed for Windows"
logo for this product and our drivers digitally signed.
My question is what are the requirements to get
certification for our display adapter? I want to know if
DCT tests alone are enough? Or should we need to do
complete HCT also.

I basically could not differentiate the DCT and HCT as
regards to Display Adpaters. Can some shed light on this?

Regards,
Ashok.

Hi Loren,

Thanks for the pointers. After reading the test
descriptions and installation notes of DCT and HCT, I
have some doubts.

1. In the HCT Test categories, there is no Display
Adapter/Chipset. Of course there is a test category for
Display monitors. Our hardware is a PCI Display adapter
card (add-on card). For this device what are the HCT
tests to be carried out, if any? I could not see any HCT
tests relevent to the display adapters. Please help me!!

2. The DCT tests almost everything required for Display
adapters...Graphics Bus test, Power mgmt, PCI, GDI,
DirectX. I think this DCT is comprehensive for display
adapters. I want to know, if the DCT test results are
enough for getting logo for Display adapters?

Regards,
Ashok.

Please see the main website for WHQL at:
http://www.microsoft.com/hwdq/hwtest
It contains information about requirements for Windows hardware including
display products.

Thank you,

Thanks Loren. I have sent couple of mails to the DCT Help
alias. But I did not receive any reply. So I just
resorted to this list. I am awaiting response from DCT
Help team.

Hello Ashok,

Yes, you should use the DCT for display adapter/chipset testing. All other
device categories and pc systems should use HCT.

Thanks,
Karl
