dcpromo active directory installation

when i try to promote the server to controller the active
directory installation fails giving the error message
"network location not found ".
this happens just after i have given the DS restore mode
admin password and after the active directory installtion
begins

Do you have a network interface up on the server?

yes,i do have a network interface .in fact this win 2k
installation is on a new server which i have just
networked to another win 95 client. there r only these 2
machines. the win 2k installation went w/o a hitch. but
the active diretory set up gives the same error all the
time

Are TCP/IP Settings correct with IP. Try set the DNS in TCP/IP to the server
it self's IP.
