Damaged Windows Security/Task Manager

When I press CTRL+ALT+DEL I get only the normal contents of the Task Manager
Processes tab page. The same thing happens when I double click the
taskmgr.exe file in Explorer in the System32 folder. The object is a
rectangle without the tab. It contains the list box with headers, scroll bar
and functional data. The check box and button are there. The object can be
moved. The only way to close this object is to highlight taskmgr.exe and
click End Process. The task bar contains a button with the icon but it has
no functionality. There is an icon in the tray which displays the cpu usage
in a tip. XP was originally loaded from a CD with SP 1a included. I have
since upgraded to sp 2. All has been working correctly until yesterday when
something started consuming 20% of the cpu and that process did not show in
the processes list. McAfee Virus scan, Norton Disk Doctor and WinDoctor all
negative.

Open Task Manager and double-click anywhere on the top Window border.
Somehow, you managed to convert Task Manager to run in "Tiny Footprint Mode".

Thank you, that resolves part of the problem. Now CTRL+ALT+DEL goes directly
to the task manager with the tab pages showing. But what happened to the
"Windows Security" window where Task Manager is one of six options?
