customize welcom screen background

Does anyone know how to adjust registry keys to change the welcome screen to
image of my choice. They're some articles in the knowledge base about it for
WinNT, but it doesn't work for XP. I would like the windows xp welcome
screen to appear with a bitmap or jpeg image instead of the blue 'welcome'
screen.
