Custom Appointment form

I have a custom appointment form that I use, This form contains a
number of custom fields. For some unknown reason, when I create items
using this custom form, it saves the items with all the custom fields,
but it seems to save it as a basic appointment form. I know this
because the message class of the object is not being saved as my
custom class. This is really frustrating. Is there anything that can
be done to fix this.
