Cursor goes to upper right corner and stays

the other night the cursor(arrow) was in upper right corner and wouldnt move.
i cleaned the mouse - nothing. rebooted computer - and it worked fine until
this a.m. cursor is back in upper right corner - cant do anything on
computer - have rebooted several times - but cursor returns immediately to
upper right corner. When shutting down system - right before cuts off, an
error message comes up for a couple of seconds. message is something like
"the instructions for 0X0040a2bc . . . . referenced by memory 0X0000 . . .
could not be read".

Any ideas?

Thanks - Gail

Have you tried a different mouse? What type of mouse to you have USB or
PS2? If you have a USB try it in a different port or even try a PS2 mouse
instead, or if it is a PS2 mouse try a USB mouse. Do you have any special
mouse software; like if it is a Logitech mouse did you install their
software? Try uninstalling it. Unless you use special features or you
reprogram the extra buttons for different things you don't need the extra
software.

I have had problems sort of like this, but mine was because I also have a
tabled connected to my computer and if I leave the pen laying on the tablet,
the tablet pulls the mouse back to that location.

We have a similar problem with our Dell Latitute C610 Laptops. Our problem
is the joystick in the center of the keyboard. We usually go into the mouse
setup and disable the joystick and it works perfectly after that.

Since installing service pack 2 my a4tech mouse (ps2 type) ocassionally
wanders up to the top left of the screen. I have installed the latest a4tech
software, machines clean no virus, no spyware.

It Still does it, I even swapped the mouse for another same make/model no
luck still does it.

Go to control panel, mouse. Look for a check box setting involving
enhanced precision or something like that (I forget the name). Uncheck it.
