Curser jumps on it's own!

Hi everyone and I can really use some help. I have a
frustrating problem that hopefully has a simple fix. I
just bought a laptop that came with XP Home Edition. I'm
using MS Office.

Regardless of the program or application I'm in (this
includes Yahoo mail), the curser, on it's own, jumps all
over the page as I type. I'll be typing in an email note
or doc and the curser will skip to the top or middle of
the doc. The curser has even jumped into fields if I'm
typing in Outlook contacts.

I deselected all 'edit' options and 'correct as you type'
but this didn't help. Any ideas or fixes? Txs, Mitch

Check the Touchpad properties. It's likely that you have some option set in
there that is causing the problem. If these options are set too sensitive,
just the vibration of typing will cause the behavior you are seeing. Make
sure that the "tap to click" is not enabled. You might also check to see if
the "stick" mouse is enabled.

Try turning down the mouse/touchpad sensitivity from the Mouse Applet in
Control Panel. Also, turn off Speech Recognition in Office.
