Text jumping around while in Excel, Word, Email

While I'm in excel, word, or email and I'm typing the curser will jump from
line to line or return and start a new line. I don't appear to have any
viruses on my system, but I can not get this to stop. I can type 10 letter
and then it will jump backwards and finish what I was typing in another
previously typed word. Has anyone experienced this and how did you keep this
from happening?

I have encountered similar activity that was corrected by swapping out the
mouse. If you have another mouse, try it and see if that corrects your
problem.
