Curser jumps around

In both Word and Outlook there are times when I am typing and the curser will
jump to another location and the typing begins there. Any ideas why this
would happen?

Just in those programs, not in others?

Is this a desktop or a laptop? If a laptop, your fingers may be
accidentally brushing the touch pad, moving the cursor.

what you might want to
try is to test the issue in
safe mode w/networking.

if the mouse stabilizes,
then you may have to
relieve normal mode
of some of the processes
that are starting up at
boot time.

also, if you are working
in word and have no need
to be connected to the
internet,

then close your anti virals,
your network connection
and other programs to
allow your system to focus
on the document at hand.

and lastly, I use a freeware
called "free defrag" which
helps to relieve the memory
of process's that were not
unloaded from memory after
you closed their parent
programs.

if you decide to use the
freeware, my suggestion
is to launch it, clean the
memory then exit.

use it as necessary instead
of keeping it loaded in mem.

remember, the idea is to
relieve your mem of unused
processes.

I guess that is possible without my even realizing it. However when I type
I'm not very apt to be near the touch pad. Thanks, I'll pay more attention
to it.

Turn off the touchpad's tap option; the membrane is vibrating as you
type and contacts on the touchpad are misinterpreted as taps, relocating
the pointer, or cursor in this case..
