curser disappearing

Our curser disappears. The problem happens in all applications (yep, just
did it while typing this). It seems when starting with a freshly formatted
computer, the problem begins shortly after using MS Word documents and
effects all sorts of programs including non Windows programs. Suggestions
.....

uncheck it.
