Curious behavior

I have an older Linksys single user router (no built-in hub). Its connected
to the motherboard's onboard LAN connection.

My mouse is a infrared type by Logitech connected to the USB port physically
parallel to the PS2 port on the motherboard.

Normally, when I turn on the PC just at the beginning of the bios routine,
the mouse will light up briefly and remain illuminated.

Sometimes, not always, if I turn on the router, turn on the PC, the mouse
may not light up. The mouse won't be found in XP either.

Its probably just an oddity that needs no fix. Just curious of opinions of
the cause of this.

USB port and the on-board Ethernet port may be sharing the same IRQ.
