Critical Updates -- Problem restarting afterwards

2 new critical updates out today .. 823980 and 821557..
6.3MB Be prepared to wait awhile on downloading ... mine
took about 1 1/2 hours I guess high demand. Be patient,
they'll get there.
I have a problem after restarting .. I get a window
showing I need to install these 2 updates .. Do I need to
reinstall again ? or can I just exit out of that window?
Also, on start up, I have those pesky little programs
that I don't want running in the background putting their
icons in the sys tray, and I have to go to each one and
exit out of them or close them.
How do I get them not to load up each time I restart ?

When restarting after downloading and isntalling updates,
why do I get a screen showing new critical updates and
asking me to downolad and install? I went to the update
section and viewed the history of updates and it shows
the updates were successfully installed.
Just wondering if others had this occur
