Critical new items "hidden" in inbox

I am using Office 2007 Beta and I have possibly lost some critical emails.
My inbox is in a PST file. What happened is that some emails arrived and the
inbox is displayed as "Inbox(3)" but when I click on it there are no new
emails shown. I know they are there because I sent myself a test message. I
have tried using a View of unread items and nothing shows up. I have tried
repairing the PST file that the inbox lives in but it didn't help. I
absolutely have to get a hold of these "hidden" emails so can anyone suggest
a way to make them appear or to recover them?

I would really appreciate that.

Thanks,

KP

Have you tried creating a new profile and adding the PST to it? You can
create a new profile via Control Panel, Mail.

Thanks Patrick, that solved the problem. As part of trying to resolve the
issue I copied my inbox to a folder named "INBOX" in another PST file and now
Outlook won't let me delete it (Delete it greyed-out). I have tried
restarting Outlook but it didn't help. How do I delete this
no-longer-required empty folder?

Thanks,

KP

The folder Inbox is protected by Outlook and can't be deleted. Can you
get rid of the other PST altogether?

OK I have created a new PST and copied everything except the INBOX folder over.

Thanks,

KP

Don't forget about contacts, appts, notes. Those are stored in the PST
as well.
