Missing Inbox

My Outlook 2003 crashed. To fix it I used the Inbox Repair Tool. When my
recovered .pst file was opened, there was no Inbox but there was instead a
Lost and Found folder which contained a "recovered folder 8082" which
contained all the emails that had been in my inbox. I sent a test email to
myself to see where it would show up since there was no inbox. It showed up
in the "recovered folder 8082" I added a new "inbox" folder to see if email
would show up there and it doesn't. I can't figure out how to get my "inobx"
back and I can't simply rename to 8082 folder.

Any ideas??

If starting Outlook with the /resetfoldernames and /resetfolders command
switches doesn't help, you'll need to create a new PST, make it your default
delivery location, then copy the data from the old PST to the proper folders
in the new one.

Thanks for the response, however, I need a little more direction. I haven't
been able to find out how to do what you've suggested. I'm using OL2003 on a
Vista Business platform. 2 questions:
1. how do you use the /resetfoldernames and /resetfolders commands?
2. if those don't work, using your other suggestion, I can create a new pst
file, it ends up being called "personal folders", but how then do I copy the
info from the old pst (which is called "outlook") into it? I've tried but am
obviously not doing something right.

Click Start. In the Search field enter

outlook.exe /resetfolders

Be sure to include the space. Press Enter. Do the same for /resetfoldernames

After creating the new PST with File>New>Outlook Data File, make it your
delivery location by clicking Tools>Account Settings>Data Files tab, selecting
the new PST, clicking Set as Default, and then stopping and restarting
Outlook. You'll now have two sets of folders and you can open each folder in
the original set, copy all the items in the folder with Ctrl-A, then clicking
Edit>Copy (or Move) to Folder, specifying the corresponding default folder as
the destination. For the Calendar, you'll need to display it in a table view
like By Category in order for Ctrl-A to work. When you've copied the contents
of each folder to its appropriate location, right-click the root of the old
folder set and choose Close.
