Creating folders

Hi,
MS article # 900871 advises creating folders with names i.e..: C:\XPCD\i386,
......etc
However the computer doesn't allow using in naming the colon, backslash etc.
What gives, any idea how to follow the instructions?

Sure it does. Open a command prompt (Start, Run, cmd click OK) and try
it. If you can't, you're entering something incorrectly.

No you don't use the the backslash as part of the name, it is part of
the path separating the sub directory names.

In "C:", create New folder named "XPCD". open "XPCD" and then create "i386".

In Windows Explorer place cursor on C drive and select File, New,
Folder. Type XPCD. Place cursor on XPCD folder and type i386 as name.
That should get you started.

he was trying to do.

True, but it appears that the OP was not doing it correctly with the
direct method and thinking that "C:\XPCD\i386," was a folder name. So
break it down into component parts.
