My computer came with XP SP1. Recently I had to reinstall the software and I
came across articles 894947-894950: "Combining Windows XP with Service Pack 2
for reinstallation (parts 1 - 4)" that describe how to create a boot disc
with XP and SP2 integrated using the original XP1 disk, downloaded SP2, and
BBIE software to extract the boot image. I followed along with everything
until the very end. It says to create a new folder called "Xpcd" with the XP
files and SP2 integrated. That was easy. Then it says to run BBIE to extract
the boot image from the original XP SP1 disk and create a file image1.bin on
the desktop. That was easy. But it doesn't say what to do with that file. It
says that once image1.bin is created on the desktop then burn the files in
the Xpcd folder onto a new disk, but it doesn't say what to do with the image
file. I tried burning it onto the disk also but that didn't create a bootable
disk. The last paragraph of article 894950 is cryptic. I've tried figuring it
out on my own with no success. Help.
