How can I create an Internet Explorer icon specifically for a particular
website, for example: http://www.yahoo.com
which I can double click, for example in the Desktop?

Right click on the page that you want to create a shortcut for to display
the drop-down menu. Select the Create Shortcut option.
OR
Select the File\Send to\Shortcut to Desktop menu option in IE.

Both of these methods will copy what is called the Favorite icon from the
site to your local machine.

To view a sites' favicon.ico file type the site url followed by /favicon.ico

eg.

http://www.yahoo.com/favicon.ico

You can then save the icon to your computer manually if you wanted to.

Save it as a normal Favorite, then drag it to the desktop.
If you prefer the regular IE icon, it resides in shell32.dll.
