Startup parameters for I.E. 7

We would like to start Internet Explorer 7 from our Windows Vista desktop
and have it open a specific webpage, from a given icon, without changing the
default webpage. For example, one desktop icon might open I.E. defaulting
to a dictionary webpage, while another icon might open I.E. defaulting to an
online encyclopedia. This would allow us to use the icons to open useful
tools, much like opening a program on the desktop. Can the I.E. command
line include a startup parameter for loading a specific page? Does anyone
have any suggestions on how this might be done?

Yes but given your example it would be unnecesary to go that far.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how this might be done?

Just create an Internet shortcut (*.URL file) on your Desktop.
Simplest way to do that is to use right-click Create Shortcut
or just drag the URL for it from an IE Address bar to wherever
you want it. Once you have the shortcut on your Desktop you
can use right-click Properties to change its icon to some other
one you have saved somewhere. Unfortunately there doesn't
seem to be any simple way to just make it use the site's favicons
(as the same filetype's files in Favorites do, for example.)
Even dragging the one from the Address bar doesn't preserve
the icon (but strangely that does result in a smaller file?) YMMV.

(Out of curiosity I just dragged both shortcuts to Notepad.
The one created by right-click, Create Shortcut has 5 extra lines
of extraneous junk stuck at the front of it. It might have something
to do with the way I opened that page (e.g. I started with a Favorite)
but I suspect it's a bug.)
