Creating an auto summery without using "autosummery"

Hi
I have a document with several headings each having paragraphs tables etc. I
would like to select a few of these headings (including the text belonging to
the heading) and auto generate a summery.

Eg.
Head1
Head4.1
Head4.2
Head5.1.2

The text within these headings should be generated into a summery. - Can
this be done??

Hi MW

Yes, this can be done using Word's Table of Contents functionality. It's a
two-stage process. First, mark each item you want to appear in the Table of
Contents with a TC field. Second, insert a Table of Contents.

To mark each item, before the text in the item, do Insert > Field. In the
Field Names box, choose TC. In the Text Entry box, type the text you want to
appear in this summary and click OK.

To insert the TOC, do Insert > Reference > Index and Tables, and click the
Table of Contents tab. Now, click Options and do three things. First,
delete anything in the TOC level column, so that no styles are ticked.
Second, un-tick the Outline Levels box. Third, tick the Table Entry Fields
box. Now, click OK.
