Hmm still happening, anybody seen this before?

Not a pc problem as we've tried on a desktop and a laptop. Tried recreating
profile and still the same.

Thanks

He's searching on subject / name / address.

It's skipping items both on his exchange mailbox and his pst file.

Thanks

Is he searching on his name/address? Is it only skipping the sent items
in the pst?

Hi,

I have a user running Outlook 2003 11.5608.5606 on Windows XP Sp2
connecting to Exchange 2000.

When the user creates a search folder and searches, the results randomly
omit sent mails, resulting in gaps in the conversation. We've ran an
integrity check on the store and it passed fine, also ran offline
defrag.

I don't know if this is related but when the user replies to a mail in
his PST file his name doesn't appear in the 'from' box, this is only
with PST mails.

Anybody come across this?

How is he searching? Windows Desktop Search? Google Desktop Search?
Advanced Find? Simple Find?

Can you state the Search Folder characteristics?

Hi Brian

Use is using a PST File (1.2gb ran scanpst all ok) stored on a home drive.

Create new search folder - search for mail from / to contact

Pick contact from global address list

Search - only the mails from the contact appear, sporadically he will get a
reply from him to the contact but possibly 1 or 2 at most, if you go to the
folder in the pst file there will be a whole trail of from / to.

Possibly related but if he replies to a mail from the pst file his name does
not appear in the "from" box. We've ran scanpst and also tried on several
machine but the problem follows him.

Alas, I cannot duplicate this, but considering what you say here, it doesn't
surprise me. Have you tried a new mail profile? A new Exchange mailbox?
Why is he using a PST when he has an Exchange mailbox? How many accounts
does he have?

Paul

Tried creating a new profile on a clean desktop to no avail.

Haven't tried new exchange mailbox as he's only scanning the pst.

He's using a PST as his mailbox was hitting 1.2gb and company policy
dictates archiving old mail. He has one exchange mailbox account limited to
250mb and several pst files. His job requires him to hold on to ridiculous
amounts of mail .

Exchange troubleshooting assistant does not pick up any issues with the
server.
