crc error

I use Windows XP. When I try to install any game on my
computer it comes up with error messages for certain files
saying -
"CRC Error: The file c:\(Game file...) doesn't match the
file in the setup's .cab file. The medium from which you
are running the setup may be corrupted; contact your
software vendor."
What do I do?

As the message says, "contact your software vendor"! Your install CD (you do
have a legal copy - right) may be bad!

Yep. I had a bad memory module causing me problems. The MS diagnosic for this worked like a charm. I would like to thank the faceless MS engineer for his/her great work on that program

Happiness is a speedy computer with 512 MB of Video Memory. :-

I am having this same exact problem and I do not think it's a bad CD that you have. DO NOT contact your software vendor just yet

Check your RAM. That's my next step. I'll post back if this works for me.
