First, when i start my defender won't initialize. error 106ba. so i searched
it and came did what ms said by deleting and reinstalling. then it wouldn't
find the definitions. error 706ba. i can go into my services and start
defender manually and all is well. that also takes me to my 2nd,

to get on the net via a cable modem, i also have to go into my services and
start dhcp client. that took me about 2 days to figure out. i have been
dealing with this backup intelligent transfer thing also. it wouldn't allow
my automatic updates. so i've been all through this thing and finally got it
to go through all the updates. which by the way i have to manually start
windows installer also. i have the settings on automatic for these services.
i also should admit that i don't know anything about these computers. i have
only started learning by playing recently so i am probably the worst kind of
customer. lol!

if anyone could explain to me how to get these services to start up the way
they should i would greatly appreciate it! cause when you don't know what
you're doing it sure does take a long time to figure out how to do it

thanks
Jason

Hi Jason,

Set the following in Services then Properties. Double click on the
Service to see the Properties.

Automatic Updates Startup Type Set
to Automatic
Background Intelligent Transfer Service Startup Type Set to
Manual
Event Log Startup
Type Set to Automatic

yeah i did that a little while ago according to a post on another site for
microsoft. it still doesn't work. when i go to update it says "unable to
display" and [Error number: 0x800A01CE]. but if i go into services and start
those 3 then update goes through. alot of my services aren't starting
automatically. windows installer, defender and my broadband connection. i
don't understand but would love to

any thoughts?

Do you know how to fix a blurry screen(desktop background) and shadows on the
icon text on the desktop? I have tried the My Computers> properties>
advanced> performance.
