Crazy Singing!!!!!!!!!!

Can someone help me please.....
Whenever I play music it sounds like the smurfs singing - the music and the
voice seems to be playing faster than normal. I've tried everything I
possibly can to rectify the situation but I'm now at a loss....
(I use iTunes and Media Player)

It is probably that your audio configurationsound effect key is set, set it
back to zero you can find it in the control panel if you have ac 97 the key
settings sound just like a smurf and the speed settings on media player do as
well if they are set to a high enough speed: select now playing
options/enhancement and play speed set back to common speed.

Cheers mate, You've pointed me in the right direction. What it in actual fact
turned out to be was the distortion setting on 'Av Rack' which I located on
the start menu,
all programs, Avance Sound Manager (Windows XP) - I re-set it to 0 from
+3..but if hadn't been for reply I wouldn't have been any further forward.
