Crash during Windows Update

I received a message from Microsoft to update Windows and
accepted. The update reached 45 minutes when I had to opt
out (ctrl+alt+delete) because I just couldn't wait any
longer. I'm sure the computer hasn't been updated in some
time...

The computer shut down. Now when I turn it on, it
immediately shuts down after nearly completing Windows
start-up. I have no idea what has happend. If the update
un-installed some software, what's the best way to get it
back?

Have you tried to start your computer in save mode?

Hm. How do I do that? I'm totally not a tech person, I

I have had this same problem after a complete instal of
SP4; can't start windows in safe mode. I have searched the
knowledge network without help.
