CR/RW burner not detected

Hi,

I have XP installed on an E machines 570 PC, I have always managed to
rip and burn data using the Samsung CD/RW that was pre-installed on my
PC but for some reason now it will rip my CD's but will not burn them
with the message no CD burner has been detected.

I have gone through XP's troubleshooters but nothing covers this and
according to Device Manager the item is working properly.

I have un-installed and re-installed and still get the same message. No
new drivers are available.

Could it be memory related by any chance? as I don't want to buy a new
one if this could be the problem.

Anyone have any ideas? or is it a case of just buy a new one.

Thanks

What program are you using to burn your data? I got the same thing last night
when I try burning some data files using the Windows wizard but it worked
perfect when I used a third party program.

Trying to use Windows Media Player, it has always worked perfectly
before, what I have noticed looking at the drive file is that the
Tracks are showing as read only but when I go to uncheck them, I am
getting an access denied error message, I click ignore all but it just
re-checks them back to a read only file
