Hi everyone,
I have a database that i designed for a department that has approx 8 users.
It is setup on a shared drive with FE and BE. All users have read and write
access to folders. Each user has a seperate copy on their desktop that they
access. My users from time to time receive the message, "Couldn't update;
currently locked by user" when they try to save a record. Here is the
setting i am using:
Access 2003
Default open mode Shared
Default record locking Edited Record
OLE/DDE timeout 30
Refresh interval 60
number of update retries 2
ODBC refresh interval 1500
Update retry interval 250
I have not found anywhere with a clear cut solution to this problem other
than having all users logout. I have done this and when the problem does
occur this does not resolve the issue. I have heard suggestions of changing
the Refresh Interval from 60 to 2 sec? Will that help? Also i have heard to
have individual copies repaired and compacted? Will that work? Any feedback
is appreciated.
