If anyone have an idea on how to install window 2000 on a
system which already has win XP installed, please please
let me know. Thanks a lot.

Here is the info of system:
IBM Netvista with win XP instal in C drive (FAT format)
2 additional partintion (D and E drives).
Want to install win 2000 on D drive.
This is what I have done and got:
1. change the boot sequence to boot from CD_ROM Drive
2. Restart the system with win 2K CD inside.
3. System goes directly to win xp logon screen

Unfortunately, you have started the wrong way - You have installed XP first. It is possible to do it this way, but a MUCH simpler method is to install Windows 2000 first. My recommendation is to format all drives and begin the Windows 2000 setup and install normally. After Windows 2000 is ready, then put the Windows XP CD in and begin the setup and choose the option that allows multiple operating systems.

The reason I don't want to wipe out everything because I
just want to run a test on win 2K and don't want to loose
the manufactor's setup. When we purchased that system, it
already comes with win XP prof and we have no CD come with
it. If I wipe out everything, then I couldn't get it back
to original state.
Is there a work around for this issue?

Thanks,
kbd

If you hide the C: partition with program such as Partition Magic
or Acronis Partition Expert you probably will be able to install
win 2k in a separate partition.

Farouk,

I have tried to set drive C from active to hidden, and set
drive D which has no OS to active. Then the system reboot.
I insert a win 2K CD in, it says NTLDR is missing, press
ctrl+Alt+Del to restart. Now it is getting worse I can't
even go back to previous state....PLEASE HELP.

Thanks a lot,
kbd
