could not open item

i just reinstalled office xp after trying a trial version of office 2003. now
my outlook is giving me the message "could not open item. try again." each
time i try to reply to an email. i can get email, but not reply.

i've tried reinstalling it, restarting office, restarting my computer.
nothing works. suggestions?
 
When you installed the trial version, you corrupted your Office xp common
folder. You should have installed into a special diff folder. The only way
out now is to uninstall and reinstall Off xp and make sure all of the trial
version has been removed.
