Hey all,
I posted the below over on the Media Player newsgroup, thought I would post
here as well, as it gets a lot more traffic, in case someone here might have
some ideas.
"Today, I was ripping some music from a cd, and media player 10 froze up,
and
my computer locked up.
I had to do a power down and power up.
Afterwards, Media Player tells me that it can't play a file, ie mp3 or wma.
It will play directly from an audio cd.
However, when trying to play a file from the hard drive, I get a message
"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the
file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the
file."
I tried downloading and installing Media Player 10 again, with same result.
I used system restore, and successfully restored my system to a checkpoint
from yesterday, however still get the same error message when trying to play
a file from my hard drive. So far I have tried mp3's and wma's, and get the
error on both of them.
Any ideas on what I could do to repair Media Player 10 would be greatly
appreciated."
Thanks,
Don Burnette
