Corrupt or missing config.sys

On my computer at home when I try to boot up I come up with
the error message "Config.sys is corrupt or missing." Can
anyone tell how to go about fixing this?

Are you running WindowsXP? There is NO config.sys in XP

but there is in previous versions of Windows. The
version in XP is called MSConfig.exe and can be activated
from the Run command and opens the System32 configuration.
